Decode your customer’s color to sell better!

Have you heard of the 4Colors method? Dr. William Marston, a lawyer and psychologist, developed this analysis tool that would allow us to understand and decipher the main traits of our personality, the DISC or language of colors.

To make it easier for you to understand the method and because it is easier to memorize what is entertaining and without great complication, four colors were used to describe each personality trait: red, yellow, green and blue.

4Colors method: What does red suggest to you?

Blood, love, the red cross… These are the images that may come to mind when you see this color.

Red can symbolize vigor, zeal, dynamism, speed́. Emblem of fire, red is lava, furnace, heat. Infrared rays give a feeling of warmth, fervor. This color is the color of action-oriented people, but also of authoritative people.

Embodied by an arrow, red can reveal your behavior in the face of problems.

4Colors method: What can yellow suggest to you?

By image associations, yellow evokes sun, gold, sunflowers… It is the color of the sun which radiates the universe and warms everything around it, which charms just like gold. The yellow color resources us, gives us energy like the foods that have this color: honey, oil, wheat́…

The color yellow describes a committed, optimistic, action-oriented person in an environment perceived as conducive.

4Colors method: What can green suggest to you?

This color evokes nature, hope… Associated with the plant world, it is soothing, strengthening.

Green symbolizes life, communion, fusion and stabilitý just like this well-established, well-rooted tree. It is a color that brings comfort, a certain well-being.

Represented by a circle, this color depicts a person who is rather introversion-oriented in an environment perceived as conducive.

The color blue, the color of azure, reminds us of the deep sea, the clear, infinite sky, the blue of work, the road signs, the ice…

It refers to the dream world, to wisdom and serenity.

Blue plunges us into our inner world in search of our roots. The color encourages reflection, introspection in search of information. Blue is the symbol of knowledge, of discoveries but it is also the color of truths, of the respect of laws (think of these compulsory signs).

Blue is the color of people who are more oriented towards reflection in an environment perceived as threatening.

What is the color of your client?

Each person is a unique combination of 4 behavioral styles with varying degrees of strength. To put it simply, we can say that we can decipher our client’s personality from their strong tendencies:

A red person tends to put pressure on his interlocutor in order to take advantage of the most advantageous solutions or conditions.

A yellow person is inclined to be rather sympathetic with his salesman and hopes in this way to get great privileges from his relationship.

And a green person is inclined to reassure his interlocutor in order to build a lasting relationship. In this way, he will manage to conduct negotiations to his advantage and acquire maximum assistance.

A Blue personality tries to glean as much information as possible, to make comparisons and tends to take a step back. He is often cold, reserved, sometimes icy.
